"Starvers"

That is what Em used to call Star Wars, until she got to kindergarten, that is! Today I spent some time taking dictation of kindergarten Paw Print Press stories. Our school PTA published a work of each student in the school, but for kindergarten the process takes a bit longer because most of them cannot even write one sentence, let alone an entire story on their own.

It is not recommended that parents take down their own child's story, unless they want to. That wasn't my choice, but Em really seemed nervous about this new experience so I relented and wrote her story out for her. We had written a few at home, so from those she chose to tell the one about daddy showing her and Kt Star Wars while mommy was away. It was a brief story, and when it was done, she was ready to start on her next one. I guess the point that it was only to be one story was lost on her - several times!

After we finished up her "About the Author", came up with a title we started the dedication page. She decided to dedicate her book to her pets, Phoebe and Calvin, "because I forgot to write a story about them!" Those were her exact words as she glared at me. Like it was my fault??? Luckily for me, it's pretty unlikely she'll ever let me take down a story for her again! Oh, and she had me write that when she grows up, she wants to be a doctor, dentist and veterinarian. I wonder who gets to pay for THAT education!
