New Invention?

This is HARDLY an invention, but as I sit here with 90 pencils in front of me, an overheated electric pencil sharpener and kids who have completely lost all interest in an activity that typically (and oddly) fascinates them, it occurs to me that if they actually sold "pre-sharpened" pencils, that is one thing I would totally pay extra for. To me, on a day like today, it would be well worth my money!

I still can't believe that my school, in CT, is not allowed to even ask our affluent parents to contribute pencils. Therefore, I have to sharpen all of the pencils for my class, as I do not want them overheating my electric pencil sharpener.

So, in order to end this insanity, I need to move to Connecticut. OK. I'm there!

Maybe I shouldn't mention this....but at my son's elementary school, we have the option of buying prepacked school supply boxes for each class containing exactly what the specified teacher wants. We always do this....as it saves quite a few headaches! In his box this year, he had two boxes of PRESHARPENED pencils!
I actually think that Target might sell these....I think I may have seen them there.
(this is Kim Sterling, by the way..., and I LOVE reading your blog! :0) )

I want those pencils!! Actually, our school has the same option, but the pencils did not come presharpened and the box was $50 - we spent about $35 on each kid.

Because we went away, I think we missed all the good items at Target. By the time we went, all the wide ruled paper was gone, no more 16 or 24 packs of crayons and I have yet to find ANY black marble composition notebooks. We may just have to settle for the green ones I found at Staples.

Kim, where's your blog?

I know what you mean about supplies being picked over. My high schooler didn't get his supply list until the first day of school. I had to go to four stores to get everything on his list! :0(
