It appears as though being a forgetful, busy, stuck in traffic, sick or irresponsible parent is about to become criminal and expensive in Texas!! That's right - a $500 fine and a criminal record if you miss that 15 minute block of time you have to discuss your precious child. Here's how it works. You are assigned a random block of time during which you are to show up early, wait for the person ahead of you to go way over their allotted time, then spend a rushed 5-10 minutes discussing your own child's progress, issues, concerns, only to be rushed out the door for the next parent who is chomping at the bit for his few minutes of undivided attention with a teacher. Should you fail to miss your time in Texas, you're in trouble. I wonder if they'll start fining teachers for going over those alloted minutes???
Really, the whole thing is just a bit overreaching - wouldn't you agree?
