"Stupid" Smear Tactics

I have tried to lay low on the political commentary on this blog because we all know I am far from educated on politics!! As far removed as I am from politics, I know a "stupid" smear campaign when I see one! And I see two, but one is far more disrespectful than the other. I don't take too kindly to Obama constantly calling me "stupid"... he's winning zero points with me each and every time he uses that word. AS IF I would feel any smarter to just unwittingly vote for him because I think that will make me smarter... in his eyes. I'm offended.

What the media and Obama campaign has done to Sarah Palin is just truly asinine. It's quite shameful and I have no desire to be connected to them in any way at this point. They demand respect for themselves and smear to the end a woman who is completely threatening to them. Talk about grace under fire - that's what I'm seeing in Palin, who is much stronger than I had ever imagined she would be. For me, the Obama camp is digging themselves to China - I don't look forward to a president who thinks I'm stupid!

As for politics, I'm becoming more clear on the McCain/Palin agenda - some things I like, some things have me wondering... I'm becoming more confused about Obama/Biden - some things I like, some things I don't like at all and then the message changes. I'm not sure what to think anymore. I keep listening, waiting to see if McCain/Palin flips on anything during their campaign... that remains to be seen.

Again, Glen Beck has a great piece on this very topic. Also, an open letter to that smear campaign by another journalist. I admit it - I like to read this kind of stuff. In the end, though, I'm going to vote for more than change. I'm going to vote for whoever starts talking about the things that matter to me... and just for the record, they don't include lipstick or action figures!! Let's hear some substance!

For quite some time I've been very angry at CNN for what I've felt was lopsided biased articles. Commentators like Jack Cafferty have been particularly biased and out spoken in behalf of Obama. But, to be fair, this article by Glenn Beck provides some reassurance that CNN is interested in providing some balance and truth to the public. It's interesting reading these blogs, for it shows that people don't want to be bothered with the facts, but will believe what they want to believe anyway.

I like to read CNN and FOX commentaries so I can decide where I fall... somewhere in the middle I guess.

People are swayed, obviously, by all they hear and read and see - whether it's true or not. Both campaigns are counting on that. I have been meaning to check out the "factcheck" site I keep reading about - for someone like me, that might be my best bet for making a sound decision. I prefer truth, but it's often hard to decipher in all the mishmash!!

I will admit, though, I am completely turned off by the way Sarah Palin is being treated. I've never seen anything like this - even with Hillary - and it's really starting to give me bitter taste in my mouth. I could see this kind of "strategy" backfiring very soon.

Thanks for reading! (And I do like Beck... I'm thinking I'm most like-minded with that guy.)

You know, for all this whining and crying from conservatives, it would seem that Sarah Palin is in a beauty pageant, not a presidential campaign. While some people are trying to claim fact misrepresentation, the truth of the matter is that Ms. Palin is NOT being treated in an unfair or sexist manner. That she is a woman is no reason to exclude her from this type of politic. If anything, conservatives have played and misrepresented the facts, have lied to keep an unnecessary and illegal war going on and have tried to portray Mr. Obama as a sexist. When McBush made the "lipstick on a pig" comment when criticizing Hillary Clinton's health care initiative, no Democrat (and mo one else for that matter) accused him of being "sexist". When Cheney used the very same phrase, no one accused him of being sexist. Now, when Obama uses it, there is this great moral outrage. Please. Spare me.
Beck and the Fox Propaganda channel are anything but fair. Fox does nothing but side with the so-called "conservative argument". The only problem is, conservatives have no argument. They only speak of what's good for their individual wallets. As evidenced by the story that recently posted on the CBS evening news, this administration has been entirely too cozy with the oil industry. NO mention of that by the Fox Propaganda Channel. Beck is clearly out of touch with reality, as are most conservatives. ALl he does is attack Obama and other liberals, and offers the same old tired solutions for the problems that face this nation. The conservatives are merely waiting on the Democrats to come up with more ideas for them steal and screw up. We've had eight years of conservative rule in this country, and what has it gotten us? Let's see: A ripoff in 2000, when blacks in Florida were denied their constitutional right to vote, an illegal and unnecessary war, NO bin Laden, soaring gas prices, and home foreclosures galore. This is the legacy of the Bush administration. The so-called "maverick" McBush voted with Bush on 90-95% of this nonsense, so he is as much to blame as is the Bush administration. But he claims to be the candidate of change? I think not. The Republicans have no ideas. The conservatives have no argument. There is nothing but a bunch of whining on their part for Palin. If she is not strong or tough enough to handle this type of politics, then she should go home and help raise her disabled son...where she belongs, if she really wanted to be a mother.

Interesting thoughts... exactly my point about the lipstick - I don't want to hear it from either side. However, I'm not agreeing with you on many points. And we'll just have to agree to disagree. I just want some facts - not the whininess... get it?

Why do you people at least take something from this hypocritic idiot, glenn beck. Everything against Obama is his topic. Palin is on the scene for 10 days. media would want to explore about her. It is outrageously stupid for someone trying to evade interviews still running for VP of such a powerful country. What democracy is this? Media is been tricked and showed to be bad. (look at Fred Thomson outrage on media for trying to find about her) And Barack Obama is being victimized for media's work which is right in first place (Look at the ad claiming Obama made reporters land in Alaska to find about her).

Obama did not question her experience. I have a brain too. Not reporting the whole statements is not out of context. Claiming the plan is from God is definitely scary. What difference is there from jihadis claiming holy war and her thoughts of attacking Iraq. thousands of innocents died there too. If you cannot differentiate Barack's prayer to give him strength and Sarah's calling Iraq God's plan, better leave journalism.

Rest comments too follow. Barack answered that when they questioned his executive experience compared to her mayorship. He was always respectful when talking about her compared to her attacking him on public talk.

Glenn, you are disgusting.

Well, I'm not Glen, but I appreciate his thoughts. If I were you, I'd check some of your "facts" on factcheck.org. =) Enjoy.

There's nothing like politics and religion to get tempers flaring...

LOL! So true... I'm just about done. Just have to get that ballot and fill it out.

I wish I believed half of what Obama has to offer - I just don't think he can do it. I have no reason to believe he can. I won't vote for someone just because they are different - it's just not in my DNA.

Guess what....if you believe in creationism and talking snakes, if you believe in the rapture and being sucked into heaven before the end of the world, if you believe Alaska should break away from the United States and become it's own country, if you believe in delusional talking in tongues, and you are running with a presidental candidate that voted with Bush 90% of the time.....then YOU ARE STUPID. Is this the 21st century? Palin stands for all of the above. Her sex does not matter. The stupid things that pollute her mind and judgement are what matter. Someone please refute the litany of intellectual waste that is Palin's positions on this issues. I'm waiting with breathless anticipation.

Thanks. That was a thoughtful, well-constructed comment. It only makes me feel more strongly the way I do!

Why does it make you feel more strongly? You yourself said on your own blog you wanted substance. Soooooooooo....WHY do you feel more strongly about what you do? Share some specifics.

deanna said...

I feel more strongly than ever that I want no connection to the smear campaign. Substance... did you offer some? I want to know what they each plan to do, not want you don't like about Sarah Palin. Is that clear enough??

C'mon, people! I'm a liberal who does NOT believe in talking snakes, but calling the blog author names? That's just juvenile.

A debate is one thing, personal attacks...just hateful words. I think we can do better than that!
