Humbling

Tonight, I learned of a family whose 11 year old daughter will be taken off life support after collapsing on Monday. She had a sinus infection. Now, it appears she will not make it. They don't really know why or what happened. Sometimes we just don't grasp how fragile life is and how close to death we really are. We just take too many things for granted. I honestly can't imagine losing children and my heart breaks for those parents tonight. Many prayers being said for them and that extended family.

Well, she died. Two of her three siblings made it to the hospital before they turned off the machines. She has a seizure Monday and never regained consciousness. Tuesday, she went into cardiac arrest and by Wednesday they knew she had no brain activity. They are going to do an autopsy to determine the cause. She had what was diagnosed as a sinus infection - on and off fever for 2 weeks - and was on antibiotics. They actually think now it must have been something else. Really sad. It's the niece of friends of ours at church.
